Basic Biometrics in Electronic Access Control

Since the inception of electronic access control systems (EAS), systems have used “something you know or something your carry with you” as a credentials of identity. Both of these methods are subject to compromise through sharing, loss or theft …and neither can assure with 100% confidence, authentication of a person’s  identify.
Biometrics, on the other hand, make use of a unique biological attribute which can not be shared, lost or stolen. This and other factors addressed in this course are, increasingly, making biometrics the credential of choice for many EAS applications.
The Biometrics in Electronic Access Control course provides an overview of biometric technologies and their application – with a focus on matching biometrics with client needs. It is intended to provide system designers, installers, and sales personnel a deeper understanding of biometric technologies; their advantages and limitations,  and how they can be best utilized.
