Special Hazard Fire Protection_Commissioning_

Commissioning is the activity of putting a fire suppression system into service and turning the equipment over to the owner. Commissioning encompasses completing the required documentation and demonstrating to the owner, or their designated representative, that the system will perform as designed. Commissioning will require planning and communication to personnel and coordinating of testing to various codes. The technician installing the fire suppression system is often the person commissioning the system and has many responsibilities.

Product Description / Course Objectives

At the conclusion of this course, the learner will be able to:

  1. Learn the codes required when commissioning clean agent fire suppression systems.
  2. Be able to identify the documents that comprise Contract Documents and their purpose.
  3. Understand the calculations involved in clean agent systems and when to apply them.
  4. Understand the role of the Authority Having Jurisdiction (AHJ) as they relate to commissioning.
  5. Be able to describe the activities involved in acceptance testing and develop a plan for testing.
