False Alarm Reduction

Security and Fire Alarms are now very common items found in businesses and homes across the US and the world.  They protect both property and life. Over the past few years, these types of systems have become very affordable and extremely reliable.

That being said false alarms from these types of systems are still a huge burden to municipalities. The cost of responding to false alarms is a tremendous drain on the city’s budgets not to mention it ties up valuable resources that may be needed elsewhere.

We will discuss this and other facts about false alarms throughout this program.

Product Description / Course Objectives

Throughout this course, we will discuss many possible causes of false alarms and possible solutions to cut down and/or eliminate them.  We will look at what one industry association has done to help combat the false alarm issue and how you and your company can help. We will also look at the cost associated with alarm response from various agencies and how they impact you, the customer and the city you live in. Overall, we want you to be informed about different things you can do as a security professional to help reduce and eliminate false alarms.

At the conclusion of this course, the learner will be able to:

  1. Define what a false alarm is
  2. Understand the causes and impacts of false alarms 
  3. Implement new feature sets that can help reduce false alarms
  4. Apply technical knowledge to reduce possible alarms
  5. Relate why false alarms are a growing issue and that it is everyone’s problem to solve.
