2020 NEC Wiring Methods and Materials

2020 NEC Wiring Methods and Materials is an overview of the requirements of the National Electrical Code, or NEC. The NEC is a code published by the National Fire Protection Association or NFPA, and is also known as NFPA 70. This course follows the evolutions performed during electrical installations and cites the codes and standards that govern them. Tasks performed will include: fundamentals and safety; installing boxes and enclosures; installing conduit and raceway; pulling wire and running cable; and requirements for equipment installation.

At the conclusion of this course, the learner will be able to:

  1. Explain the purpose of a Lockout/Tagout program and safeguards when performing electrical work.
  2. Understand the general requirements, limitations, and specifications for installing electrical wiring in compliance with the NFPA 70, also known as the National Electrical Code or NEC.
  3. Learn methods on how to protect conductors, raceways, and cables from physical damage.
  4. Define the different types of materials discussed in the NEC articles presented in this module.
  5. Determine what uses are permitted or not for each type of material referenced in the NEC.
